Much of Oracle software doesn't register in Add or Remove Programs. MECM doesn't detect these programs by default. It would be great if there was a way for Endpoint Insights to detect these and allow us to review the information related. Product Name, Version etc.. License information from Oracle might be pushing it unless it can be entered manually.
Some examples of the softwares I am looking to track are
PeopleTools
WebLogic
SQLDeveloper
SOA Suite / JDeveloper
Oracle Data Integrator

Hello Garth,
We dont very well, at least not consistently. There are a few that can be identified from Add Remove Programs and more that can be identified from the Products table on the SQL server.
Others we can find by identifying the keys found in HKEY\SOFTWARE\Oracle. And then there is always searching for a specific exe, jnlp, etc that is used to launch the Oracle software. And of course that only works with Software that we know the execution information for.
We do try to limit the oracle installations to the non-persistent VDI desktops, but we have several developers who install it on their physical machines. Often we dont know a workstation has something installed until we hear about a vulnerability from our ISO with a Qualys scan.
It would be a lot easier if Oracle were consistent with how programs were installed..

Can you help me understand how you would detect this now?
