Current Behavior
When IT assigns desktop icons through Recast Application Workspace, these icons are mandatory for the end user. If a user removes the icon, it is automatically re-added during the next sync or policy refresh.
Problem
Users have expressed frustration with this behavior because it removes flexibility. They want the ability to decide whether an icon remains on their desktop after IT has initially provided it.
Requested Enhancement
Introduce an optional assignment mode for desktop icons. In this mode:
IT can publish or suggest icons to the user’s desktop.
The user can choose to keep or remove the icon permanently without it being re-added automatically.
This would create a more user-friendly and voluntary system while still allowing IT to make applications easily discoverable.
Benefits
Improves user experience by giving control over their workspace.
Reduces complaints about forced icons.
Maintains IT’s ability to promote important applications without enforcing them.
