Automatic update/patching of installed applications

I've raised this several times, but it's worth emphasizing: the Recast Agent should support automatic updates for already installed packages when newer versions are available in the SetupStore.

Many organizations are struggling with autopatching, and this functionality would address a significant pain point. While Microsoft may eventually introduce a similar capability, they are typically slow to deliver in this area. Meanwhile, we’d prefer not to rely on third-party tools like NinjaOne or Patch My PC to fill this gap.

By enabling native, automated package updates, Recast could offer a more streamlined, secure, and integrated patch management experience. Something i think customers increasingly expect, especially now as geopolitical circumstances drive renewed interest in on-premise solutions.

Ability to Push Software Updates to Clients
A native mechanism to push updates directly to endpoints, either immediately or according to a schedule. This should allow IT to:

    • Deploy updates proactively

    • Ensure critical patches are delivered without user dependency

    • Trigger updates per device, per group, or globally

This is essential for security-driven environments where waiting for user-initiated actions is not acceptable.

When addressing urgent vulnerabilities, we cannot rely on users clicking Smart Icons.
    We need:

    • Immediate ability to push updates

    • A visible update entry in the Updates tab

    • Forced installation at deadline

    • Clear communication to the user

This ensures security while still offering a better user experience when urgency allows.

"the Recast Agent should support automatic updates for already installed packages when newer versions are available in the SetupStore."

I would like to add, It will also be usefull for "not setupstore" packages. If companies would love to work with optional packages and/or catalog packages, we need to have an update in place if applications are already installed.

At the moment we need to work with events to insure up-to-date packages in the environment. For optional packages, we need to create an additional packages to scan devices if update is needed.

Add an option to set a package as required. This will force an install always.

Merged
Add an option to set a package as required. This will force an install always. If required, the package will always forced to install and update when (store) package updates.
