Simple MDM-Free Application Update Solution

A standalone cloud tool with a large app catalog, similar to Application Manager or Application Workspace, would be beneficial for handling application updates based on administrator-set policies. Unlike Application Manager, it wouldn’t require Intune or Configuration Manager, and unlike Application Workspace, it wouldn’t come with numerous extra settings. This could serve as a base license model for Application Workspace.

A comparable but more limited tool is Ninite Pro, which is fully SaaS and handles updates without needing an MDM. Recast could enhance this by offering a larger catalog, the ability to create apps in an MDM solution, and support for install scripts if needed. This tool should be cross-platform for both Windows and Mac. Ideally, it would also inventory existing apps on PCs, notify you of unmanaged apps that can be managed and updated automatically, and allow for a global policy to update all apps across the organization automatically, unless an admin sets an exception for specific apps.
