Keep Powershell module updates consistent with MS Powershell Gallery

We have seen that the Powershell Gallery are not up to date regarding released versions of the Powershell module. We use often check in our scripts to see if required modules are installed, if not installs it from the Powershell Gallery repo. So would be great to not do this manually every time there is an update.
